On Tap For Fri Feb 9, 2007

The following are some of the NYSE stocks that I will be keeping an eye on and possibly trading tomorrow. Obviously there may be news on other stocks that come out overnight or in the morning, so I may be trading those stocks as well.

Let's see if a more focused approach will yield better results tomorrow. Here's my personal hit-list:
  • The following stocks are reporting earnings before the open tomorrow (please note that these are not all the stocks that are reporting tomorrow morning - just the ones I'm watching)

  • BMC Software Inc (BMC)* reported earnings after the close today and was trading lower by 5% in after-hours trade after it gave a disappointing outlook for Q4; BMC closed at $35.28
  • QuikSilver Inc (ZQK)* lowered it's 2007 outlook after the close today and was trading lower by 10% in after-hours trade; ZQK closed at $14.52
  • Finally, I'm keeping Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS)* on my radar; it was up today after it reported earnings and is now around some resistance at $28...I'm watching to see if it can punch through it; EDS closed at $27.92

One last note for you gold ETF traders out there. As noted at the HybridTalk blog, the gold EFT (GLD), which is traded at the NYSE will start trading at 8:20AM beginning tomorrow. So if you can't wait until 9:30AM to start trading, GLD may be your answer!

Please note that those stocks denoted with a * and highlighted green indicate that they are on the SHO Pilot List which means you can short them on a downtick.
